Pixalate’s Connected TV (CTV) Ad Fraud Series for December 2022 reveals a spike in apparent spoofing attacks targeting well known Roku apps


LONDON and PALO ALTO, Calif., January 6, 2023 -- Pixalate, the market-leading fraud protection, privacy, and compliance analytics platform for Connected TV (CTV) and Mobile Advertising, today released the December 2022 edition of our CTV Ad Fraud Series, where we highlight unique forms of invalid traffic (IVT), inclusive of “ad fraud,” across the Connected TV (CTV) open programmatic advertising marketplace.

Key Findings:

  • Local Now dropped off of the Amazon Fire TV top 10 list for the first time since the beginning of Pixalate’s CTV report series.
  • FuboTV and Xumo, two large vMVPD apps, were the top two Roku apps impacted by spoofing in December 2022.
  • FOX NOW spikes on the Roku list, with a spoofing rate of over 50% in December.
