New Pixalate research into 43+ billion global open programmatic ad transactions reveals Turkey was the most impacted by mobile web click fraud traffic (40% IVT rate) in Q4 2024; Israel was most affected by mobile app click traffic fraud rate with a 44% IVT rate, and Finland was the most impacted by desktop web click fraud (44% IVT rate)

LONDON, January 29, 2025 -- Pixalate, the global market-leading ad fraud protection, privacy, and compliance analytics platform, today released the Q4 2024 EMEA Click Fraud Benchmarks Reports for desktop web, mobile web, and mobile in-app advertising. The reports highlight various types of click-related invalid traffic (IVT) in the EMEA region and pinpoint high-risk categories, platforms, and countries impacted by IVT.

In addition to the Europe, the Middle East, and Africa (EMEA) report, Pixalate released regional reports for Latin America (LATAM), North America, and Asia Pacific (APAC).

Pixalate’s data science and analyst team analyzed more than 43 billion global open programmatic advertising transactions across desktop web, mobile web, and mobile app traffic to compile these reports in Q4 2024.

Key Findings

EMEA Desktop Web Click Fraud (Q4 2024)

  • Invalid Click Rate: 23% of desktop web traffic clicks were invalid
  • Finland was the most impacted (44% IVT rate)
  • Dominant Types of Click Fraud: 38% of invalid clicks were due to the Duplicate Clicks IVT type
  • Most Targeted Category: 50% of clicks on programmatic ads within the “Business” category on desktop web domains were invalid

EMEA Mobile Web Click Fraud (Q4 2024)

  • Invalid Click Rate: 10% of mobile web traffic clicks were invalid
  • Turkey was the most impacted (40% IVT rate)
  • Dominant Types of Click Fraud: 46% of invalid clicks were flagged for datacenter-based IVT
  • Most Targeted Category: 41% of clicks on programmatic ads within the “Education” category on mobile web domains category were invalid


EMEA Mobile App Click Fraud (Q4 2024)

  • Invalid Click Rate: 11% of mobile app traffic clicks were invalid
  • Israel was most impacted (44% IVT rate)
  • Most Targeted Category: 55% of clicks on programmatic ads within the “Games” category on mobile apps were invalid
  • Most Targeted Ad Size: 320x50 ad size was most impacted by click fraud (49%)
