Research finds “Display Impression Fraud” as most common mobile IVT type in Google Play Store (42%); “Masked IP” found to be most common IVT type on Apple App Stores (33%)

LONDON, April 17 2024 -- Pixalate, the market-leading fraud protection, privacy, and compliance analytics platform for Connected TV (CTV) and Mobile Advertising, today released the Q1 2024 Mobile’s Top Invalid Traffic Types in LATAM. Pixalate also released Global, North America, APAC, and EMEA versions of the report.

The report details invalid traffic (IVT) within apps in the Google Play Store and Apple App Store, including  the number of distinct apps impacted. Pixalate’s data science team analyzed over 91 billion open programmatic advertising impressions across 471k+ mapped mobile apps in Q1 2024. IVT types are rated most common according to the share of invalid traffic within each mobile app store.

Top Mobile In-App IVT Types: LATAM

  • Display Impression Fraud was the most common IVT type (42%) on Google Play Store
  • Masked IP was the most common IVT type (33%) on Apple App Store
  • Masked IP IVT was the second most common IVT type (17%) for Google Play Store
  • Display Impression Fraud IVT was the second most common IVT type (29%) for Apple App Store
  • Masked IP IVT impacted the most distinct apps on Google Play Store (45K) and Apple App Store (9k) 

“Display Impression Fraud” refers to impressions that are generated from the same browser or device at a statistically significant inflated rate, per Pixalate’s analysis. “Masked IP” refers to impressions in which the IP of a user does not match the IP and the associated ISP reported in the advertising transaction.
